Texas governor Perry declares disaster for 167 hot, dry Texas counties
Both Dallas and Tarrant Counties are included in the disaster declaration made public by Texas Governor Rick Perry on Thursday (July 16).
Citing hot, dry weather and the recent release of a drought monitor map which shows 18% of the state to be in "exceptional drought," the governor's made his declaration while Texas Forest Service personnel geared up for possible firefighting action at a staging area near the Granbury airport.
