DALLAS There was a huge fire on Saturday afternoon at the Hearthwood Condos on Abrams Road just above LBJ/635 in Dallas. The fire required six alarms with more than 120 firefighters and dozens of trucks. They shut down Abrams and the plumes of smoke slowed down traffic along 635. At least 24 units were destroyed. Some of the residents were elderly or low-income. The cause may have been teenagers throwing matches down a trash chute.
UPDATE: Two boys under 8 admitted to throwing matches down the trash chute. People expressed surprise that they were so young but aren't teens too old to be playing with matches? Usually it's little kids, right?
