FUQUA Winery of Dallas wins Gold Medal at 2009 San Francisco International Wine Competition

For its FUQUA 2006 Tempranillo, Vat No. 3.

FUQUA Winery of Dallas just earned a Double Gold Medal for its FUQUA 2006 Tempranillo, Vat No. 3 at the prestigious 2009 San Francisco International Wine Competition, the largest and most influential international wine competition held in the United States.

Judged by an impressive panel of nationally-recognized wine experts, a very small percentage of the entries earn a Gold Medal in this fierce competition, and even fewer earn a Double Gold Medal. On rare occasions when all the wine experts on the panel judge a wine to be worthy of a Gold Medal, that wine earns a Double Gold Medal and secures a place in the “Best of Show” Sweepstakes Award.

Among the 4,274 wines from all over the world entered in this year’s competition, only 148 earned a Double Gold Medal.

"This is really a big deal for any winery, especially for a winery in Texas," said Lee Fuqua, owner and operator of FUQUA Winery. "Not many people earn a Gold Medal, let alone a Double Gold Medal."

FUQUA 2006 Tempranillo, Vat No. 3 is only available at FUQUA Winery and Mercury Grill in Dallas. For a complimentary taste of the award-winning entry, wine lovers are welcome to stop by the winery located at 3737 Atwell, Suite 203, Dallas (2 blocks south of Mockingbird between Inwood & Lemmon) Wednesday through Friday from 3 – 6 p.m.and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Call 214-769-1147 for hours on Monday and Tuesday.
