North Texas school districts cutting back on new hires
Much to the chagrin of new college graduates and other job seekers, school districts across the North Texas area are hiring a lot less new teachers than in past years. Fort Worth ISD usually hires around 900 new teachers, but will only reach around 300 this year, while Arlington ISD is going from 400 to 200. The reason is, of course, the economy, which means fewer teachers retiring, or they'll be forced to find jobs outside of education.
