Beastie Boys cancel ACL appearance after Adam Yauch’s cancer diagnosis
MCA's tumor was apparently caught early and doctors consider his condition to be treatable.
Adam "MCA" Yauch was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid gland. The Beastie Boys, who were scheduled to play this year's Austin City Limits Festival in October, have canceled or put on hold all their tour dates for Yauch's surgery and recovery.
The tumor was apparently caught early and doctors consider his condition to be treatable.
On a side note, ACL released its schedule of bands earlier today, with the Beastie Boys still occupying that 8:15 to 9:30 p.m. time slot. No word yet on who, if anyone, will replace them.
