Dallas Arboretum to offer $1 admission throughout August
Everyday is "Dollar Day" during the month of August at the Dallas Arboretum. In an effort to address the concerns of prices at family venues, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is reducing all of the admission prices everyday in August to $1 per person, with admission returning to its normal pricing structure in September.
"With regular tickets priced at $9.50 for adults, this significant savings at all price levels will hopefully encourage families to take a last summer excursion together," stated Mary Brinegar, president of the botanical garden on the shores of White Rock Lake.
In the heat of the summer the cool breezes off White Rock Lake and the many inviting, shady paths throughout the gardens make this the perfect time to enjoy and explore the 66 acre property. Cool spots to check out are the Palmer Fern Dell, the water wall in the Ornamental Lay Garden, A Women's Garden reflecting pool, the ever popular toad corners and a stroll through the Crape Myrtle Allee. You can also view vibrant displays of tropical plants, roses and annual bedding plants including, impatiens, begonias, lantanas, and zinnias, all at their peak.
Visit the Storybook Playhouse exhibit, sponsored by Lambert's that features 14 whimsical playhouses designed by local architects. In conjunction with the Storybook Playhouse exhibit, the Seyman's Storybook Collection will be on display in the DeGolyer Estate through the month of August. This fabulous collection helps bring stories alive. Guests will be transported to the pages of beloved fairy tales with the help of various decorative vignettes that will be placed throughout the DeGolyer Estate.
The reduced price for August admissions runs August 1st-31st from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is not applicable with any other offer. The parking fee of $5 per car remains the same.
Also on sale beginning August 1 is the Fall Garden Getaway combo ticket that includes admission to the State Fair of Texas and the Dallas Arboretum. Garden enthusiasts will enjoy two great destinations for the price of $18 ($24 value). The combo ticket includes a one-day visit to the State Fair Fall Garden Exhibition (September 25 - October 18) and a general admission ticket during Autumn and Holiday at the Dallas Arboretum, valid through December 31, 2009. The Fall Garden Getaway ticket can be purchased online at www.bigtex.com or at the Dallas Arboretum's admission gate.
