Keller ISD won’t accept “acceptable” rating
The 2008-09 TEA school rankings will come out on July 31 and Keller ISD is not enthusiastic that it will be receiving just "academically acceptable." The district has already sent in papers to appeal the rating, which apparently can be moved to "recognized" based on the status change of just one student.
Keller fell below "recognized" this year because of an 84.5% graduation rate (needs 85%) among economically disadvantaged students. However, the district contends that two of the students considered dropouts were incorrectly categorized and adjusting for just one of them would move the district back up to last year's rating.
A ruling on the appeal will not be released until October.
