Geisha House opens on Cedar Springs in Dallas

I’ve been watching and waiting patiently for a year while Geisha House was going in. Since I live so close and could eat sushi for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, it has felt like a long time coming.

On Friday night (July 17th), Geisha House had a soft opening exclusively for the residents of Gables Villa Rosa, and we were fortunate to attend. Right out of the gate, the place was packed, unbelievably packed in fact, but we remained undeterred to test the new place out. Decked out in modern Asian decor, Geisha House exudes good energy for the young and hip, but is at the same time a generally welcoming environment. This would be an excellent location for a business dinner or to bring out-of-towners for good experience and fun atmosphere. I predict that this spot will definitely give Nobu and Kenichi a run for their money.

For dinner we had the teriyaki Norwegian salmon, jalapeno yellow tail sashimi and tuna nigiri, along with a bottle of house sake (mmmmmm ... sake!). Across the board, the food was excellent, but the yellowtail was particularly notable.

The bar is well separated from the restaurant, so things can ramp up (read VOLUME here) later in the evening without being a major distraction to those still in the main dining room. The bar is also well laid out and includes an nice (but small) lounge area at the back.

The main dining room is separated into a few areas including sushi bar, dining room, and hibachi. The prices were moderate (not cheap, but not expensive either for the nature of the food), and while the wait was rather long that evening, I have to compliment the service. We were there for a couple of hours, and watched the staff working hard the whole time while being very accommodating to the guests.

We’ll give you an update once Geisha House gets past the grand opening plus an interview with Aron Arsen, the general manager. Sushi lovers … you have another “Sake and Walk-ie.”

my "review" is too long to post. That seems kind of dumb. If you are interested in posting it, let me know who to send it to or what to do with it.

I like the feeling of this place, it looks like one of the first new and professional places to open on the newly and re-done Cedar Springs here in Dallas!
