US 75 in Plano closed nightly from July 27-31 to demolish old Parker Road bridge

— The Texas Department of Transportation will close the US 75 mainlanes and frontage roads at Parker Road in Plano while crews demolish the northern half of the old Parker Road bridge. The demolition will take four nights to complete, beginning Monday, July 27 at 10:30 p.m. and ending Friday, July 31 at 6 a.m. The nightly closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public, as well as the contractor, while the demolition takes place.

Nightly closures on US 75 and the frontage roads at Parker Road will take place as follows:

● Northbound U.S. 75 Mainlanes: Mon., July 27, 10:30 p.m. to Tues., July 28, 6 a.m.

● Southbound U.S. 75 Mainlanes: Tues., July 28, 10:30 p.m. to Wed., July 29, 6 a.m.

● Southbound U.S. 75 Frontage Road: Wed., July 29, 10:30 p.m. to Thurs., July 30, 6 a.m.

● Northbound U.S. 75 Frontage Road: Thurs., July 30, 10:30 p.m. to Fri., July 31, 6 a.m.

The demolition is part of a $20 million construction project to convert the U.S. 75 and Parker Road interchange from a standard, grade-separated bridge to a single-point urban interchange (SPUI). Message boards announcing the lane closures have been placed along U.S. 75 to notify the public of the closures. Law enforcement will be present to assist with traffic control.

The estimated project completion is fall 2010. TxDOT and W.W. Webber, LLC would like to thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Plano, and Collin County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this project as soon, and as safely, as possible.

Better - Nutria Kiss?

Vicious, ugly, mal-evolved and best of all alien to the region, which should help us with some quota issues that keep wanting to crop up.

From the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries

Heart Healthy 'Crock-Pot' Nutria

2 hind saddle portions of nutria meat
1 small onion, sliced thin
1 tomato, cut into big wedges
2 potatoes, sliced thin
2 carrots, sliced thin
8 Brussels sprouts
1/2 cup white wine
1 cup water
2 teaspoons chopped garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup demi-glace (optional)

Layer onion, tomato, potatoes, carrots and Brussels
sprouts in crockpot. Season nutria with salt,
pepper and garlic, and place nutria over vegetables.
Add wine and water, set crockpot on low and let cook
until meat is tender (approximately 1-1/2 hours).
Garnish with vegetables and demi-glace.
Makes four servings.

Jason, I think that is a great idea...it would be awesome to observe a theater crowd throwing your concoction. Free with a ticket?

Concessions are usually nominal, but for the right group purchase (30+ tix) I'd throw it in.
