El Ten Eleven

El Ten Eleven -- Friday, July 31 at Hailey's

Playing at Hailey's on Friday night is the dance/instrumental duo El Ten Eleven. They have been getting rave reviews for their third release entitled, These Promises Are Being Videotaped, which Spin.com states "is packed full of danceable melodies that put Ratatat to shame."

They'll be joined by The Bizarro Kids. Check out a clip here entitled "I Like Van Halen Because My Sister Says They Are Cool" live in the KEXP studio in Seattle.

Gutterth Live: Episode XXXVII -- Saturday, August 1 at Hailey's

The 37th show of Gutterth Live presents The Great Tyrant, Nervous Curtains, Silk Stocking, and True Widow, all very well-received rock groups in the Denton/DFW area. Gutterth has achieved a reputation in Denton for being an excellent resource for emerging talent. Their podcast makes for some great local music listening and has been recognized by the Dallas Observer as one of the best in the metroplex.

Charlie Shafter And The Gnomes -- Saturday, August 1 at The Boiler Room

Charlie Shafter and the Gnomes represent a generation that has been profoundly influenced by a wide variety of musicians from both a bygone era and today.

"We are music freaks first and musicians second," says Shafter. "Everyone in this band is a fan of good music regardless of what style the music claims. Influences from Woody Guthrie to Stone Temple Pilots to The Grateful Dead will show up in our sets. We didn't sign up for this to play the same song over and over. You are free to call us unfocused or naive. We are undoubtedly both. This isn't some Glenn Miller story where we are on some deranged search for our sound. It's either there or it's not and that is for the listener to decide." (Taken from artist's webpage.)

Charlie Shafter and the Gnomes will be joined by Dallas rock group Macon Greyson.
