Dallas Mavericks sign Drew Gooden to one-year contract
Over the weekend the Dallas Mavericks signed Drew Gooden to a one-year, $4.5 million contract, that with incentives could be worth $5 million by season's end. The 6'10" forward could start ahead of Erick Dampier in the center position. It's widely believed that this could be Dampier's final season in the NBA.
Gooden comes from the San Antonio Spurs. Though he had little impact in the Mavs-Spurs match-up in the most recent playoffs, Gooden was solid throughout the year, averaging 9.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 16.8 minutes of play. The Mavs will be Gooden's seventh team in eight years in the league.
