Front yard treehouse in University Park causing issues
Photo NOT provided by University Park or the Johnsons
Of course, the Johnsons could have made their treehouse less ostentatious.
Much like in Dallas, University Park does not allow treehouses to be built in front yards as it's against city code. Matthew and Amanda Johnson are learning that the hard way, as the treehouse they built for their sons, something which has become a popular attraction for the neighborhood, has been ordered to come down by the city. The Johnsons, who say their backyard doesn't have any trees that could support a treehouse, are hoping to convince the city to let the treehouse stay.

Wow, that's really more of a tree-mansion. It's a shame that they have to take it down.

Sorry, adoleo, pic is not of the actual treehouse -- I'll make that clearer.

So why isn't there a photo of the actual treehouse? How hard can that possibly be to get?

Not hard, just illegal for copyright reasons -- click on the link to the article for a picture of the much less grand treehouse. Personally, I prefer the picture I used. :)

You guys need a staffer with a motorcycle and a camera/phone to scoot around town, snapping up relevant photos. Motorcycle for cheap transportation, phone for instant uploads.

Okay, yeah - the real thing is somewhat underwhelming compared to your photo, Alex. It's still sad that they put that much work into it and now they have to take it down, but it's not nearly the tragedy the Tree Taj Mahal would have been...

Maybe they should bill it as Public Art.
It's most reminiscent of Cristo's Wrapped Trees but with a distinct existential gesture towards revealing the inherent subjugation of nature to the whim of man; the imminent subsumation of humanity itself to the ego of the collective throught the highly stylized imprisonment of an almost anthropomorphic yet static structure, unless considered part of a larger temporal continuum over a decade. Its direct reference to the writings of Sartre and the social thinking of Ayn Rand are so obvious as to go almost without saying.
I think they should call it *"Cesar Chavez in Repose"* and charge admission to adults.
