Live music events in Dallas-Fort Worth July 30 - August 2

0

Lots of local CDs being released this weekend. Hence, lots of opportunities to score new music.

Thursday

Trey Johnson, former member of Sorta, will be celebrating the release of his debut solo album Mount Pelée, with a free show at Good Records. Another release show will be on Saturday night at AllGood Cafe.

The "Legends of Surf Music" will be at Bass Performance Hall, which includes Al Jardine and David Marks, both original Beach Boys, along with Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean. They'll be playing tons of old BB favs.

Friday

Got your hip-hop time machine handy? No? Then you'll be glad to know that House of Blues is hosting De La Soul.

De La aging pretty well, actually.

Local producer Lehtmojoe will release his latest album, Spaghetti Western, in a free event at the Granada Theater. Titled the "Gimme Da Gold" party, "Leht encourages everyone to wear their gold, shine their grills, and come out to his all-night dance party featuring some of the area’s most talented musicians, DJs, and rappers."

Also releasing an album on Friday is JJ and the Rogues. Well, album is stretching it, Indifference is actually a four-song EP. But it's new music nonetheless. Can't go wrong.

Saturday

Yee-haw, Toby Keith and Trace Adkins are at Superpages.com Center on Saturday.

And while the destination is a little country, the Fort Worth Stockyards, the music sure ain't. Exit 380 and Automorrow rock Lola's Stockyards.

Also, Record Hop, CS Flemmons, Fishboy, and The Slowburners play Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio to raise money for the Denton Humane Society.

Sunday

And Sunday, oh slow Sunday. The day doesn't offer much, but at least there is some Latin flavor, Kiki Melendez, at the House of Blues to spice up a sleepy day.
