Highland Park quarterback suspended for DWI arrest

5

— James “Luke” Woodley probably won't be starting as Highland Park's quarterback this season. He was arrested May 3 for driving while intoxicated. (He drove the wrong way down Wycliff Avenue, where "police found an open case of Keystone Light on the passenger side floorboard and an open can in the vehicle's cup holder.")

When Woodley didn't play two weeks after the arrest at a scrimmage, head coach Randy Allen said he was held out for "disciplinary reasons," People Newspaper's Josh Hixson reports.

As a member of DAMM, Drunks Against Mad Mothers, this kid should be allowed to play. His punishment should be that he has to bring the refreshments at half-time for the team.

I just hope his parents do the responsible thing and make him drink the whole case.

Today's sobering thought: Or as it's called, buzz killer as I pop a couple of Excedrin after last night's Grupo Niche (Colombia) Live dance at Far West Club.

I know it's humorless of me to say so but... let's down a couple of shots of reality here with a stiff chaser. Put it on my tab..........

Driving the wrong way anywhere drunk can only be treated as 'funny' by anyone because, in this case, no one was killed. And because being drunk has become considered so 'normal' that it's no biggie. But if someone thinks being drunk is the universal drinking end-game 'normal', and driving really drunk is understandable, and going the wrong way on a street headlong into traffic filed under 'S__t happens', tell that to the several people killed ,,,and/or made into instant paraplegics...lately on the North Dallas toll way and elsewhere nationwide. It's of late an epidemic.

It's always been normal to drink...and I am the first to say 'Salud'. But having a drinking problem is a problem that somehow became socially acceptable in my lifetime to ignore. And if one is so smashed that they have zero idea that they are driving head-on into oncoming traffic, etc., that's a murder-suicide-manslaughter waiting to happen.
