Dallas frozen yogurt meltdown: Natsumi on Henderson
Editor's note: As part of our series on frozen yogurt, we visit frozen-yogurt places around town. This week: Natsumi on Henderson Avenue.
DALLAS Opened: March 2008
Profile: One of Dallas' first frozen-yogurt places with an enviable location on Henderson Avenue, Natsumi is the favorite amongst foodies.
Ambience: White white white: tile, tables, countertop, leatherette furniture. Music is techno pop.
Utensils: Plastic cups and translucent plastic spoons aren't very environmentally friendly.
Price: $2.71 for a small.
Yogurt: Natsumi has one machine with two "spigots." Every day, there's plain and a rotating flavor; on this day, it was guava.
The staff doles out the yogurt and applies the toppings.
Verdict: Pro: Yogurt is made with formula by Pre-Gel, the gelato company, and has a pleasing creamy texture. (They also have a case full of gelato and sorbet.) Con: They do that thing where they swirl the yogurt around the edge of the cup, so that there's an empty hole in the middle, but the portion size still felt sufficient. Con: After 1.5 years, the room is starting to look a little dog-eared. Pro: It's clean. And the owners are nice.

Kirby, says:
So Natsumi sells by shape, rather than weight/volume?

kirby, they weigh it too. and truly, i felt satisfied with what i got. it's totally just a perception thing, but it's hard not to feel a bit "cheated" when you see an empty core

Chessy, says:
Natsumi is well known for generosity of their servings. Don't let that scares you off. I surely did not see a hollow core like that when ordered with a topping. Maybe you should try that?
