Another wrong way driver on Dallas North Tollway results in two deaths
Jenny Hall, yet another driver who drove the wrong way on the Dallas North Tollway Monday, killed both herself and the driver of another vehicle after a head-on collision. Unsurprisingly, alcohol is suspected to be a factor in Hall driving the wrong way on the tollway.
This is the third such wrong-way incident on the tollway in the last three months.

John McClelland, says:
"Freeway" is a bit of a misnomer with NTTA, no? :)

No kidding - That is scary! How can this happen?
You would have to be going the wrong way on the service road first...But even then, negotiating the tollboths in the right direction are hard enough.

Yeah, it's a pain in the a to get on it going the right way. Shouldn't it be at least as hard to screw up?

Not sure what happened with this one yet, but that last one was caught on the tollway cameras stopping and doing a U-turn. The article does say that this lady got on at Wycliff, where there are no toll gates, so that could explain it.

Ha! It's in the mail Jason, just open with caution! :)
Terrifying and very, very sad. Just imagine seeing someone coming at you where you would least expect it.

It's very easy to go the wrong way on the tollway at Wycliff. I know because I exit Wycliff every morning and take that part of the tollway home in the evening. The tollbooths were removed a long time ago in favor of zipcash which removes any barrier of entry for wrong way drivers.
If someone were on their cell phone and didn't see any cars coming from the southbound off-ramp, then it is very easy to take a left on to the wrong way of the tollway. Any moron not paying attention can and probably will head the wrong way.
At this point, I'm really surprised and shocked that the NTTA has done nothing to make drivers more aware that they should not enter. A couple of "Do Not Enter" signs is not enough.
The intersection at Wycliff and the tollway is very confusing as well. People often get confused when approaching the first stoplight before the tollway overpass and don't see that they have to drive under the bridge to get to the next intersection that takes them to the northbound onramp.
Obviously, no studies have been done, nor any preventative measures put in place to fix this mess of an intersection. If it were happening in the Park Cities just a couple of miles north, then I'm sure it would have been given prompt attention.

I heard on the radio this morning that they think this may have been a suicide. Apparently the girl was despondent over a guy and had been drinking all day. She left her apartment door wide open, got into her car and proceeded to make headlines.

If this was intentional then it was pre-meditated murder, not suicide.

I think the murder was an unfortunate by-product of the suicide, not the other way around.

I gotta stand with CK - "suicide by innocent bystander" is murder if both go.

If it was a suicide, I wish this story was as uncommon as it seems. I had a troubled college friend who did the same.

Oh, I'm definitely with you on the murder part. Just from what I gathered, it was not the main intention.
Suicide is difficult enough to deal with, I can’t imagine what it would be like for the loved one to take out other people along with them.
