Dallas Stars sign goalies Matt Climie and Brent Krahn

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars announced Tuesday that they have re-signed two of their goaltenders from last season. Matt Climie and Brent Krahn both got one-year, two-way contracts.

Climie's deal pays him $525,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 in the minors. Krahn's pays him $550,000 at the NHL and $105,000 in the minors.

Climie, 26, played his first full pro season in 2007-08 and that included making his NHL debut. He got three starts with the Stars at the end of the season, posting a 2-1-0 record, 2.92 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.

He spent a majority of it with Idaho of the ECHL, where he where he had a 27-12-1 record, a 2.30 goals-against-average, a .915 save percentage and four shutouts. He ranked third in the ECHL in wins, fourth in goals against average, tied for fourth in shutouts and eighth in save percentage.

He also played four playoff games in the ECHL, losing all of them but posting a 2.41 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

He was assigned to Houston of the AHL during the playoffs and posted a 1-1 record with a 1.88 goals against average and a .945 save percentage.

Krahn, 27, also made his NHL debut this season. He played one period against Chicago, giving up three goals on six shots.

Krahn played 13 games with Chicago of the AHL, posting a 6-6-0 record with two shutouts, a 2.11 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

He also played with Las Vegas of the ECHL, where he had a 1-4-1 record, a 4.04 goals against average and a .874 save percentage.

Both Climie and Krahn were signed by the Stars as free agents last year. With them now being resigned, the Stars have four goalies under contract for 2009-10: Marty Turco, Climie, Krahn and Richard Bachman.

The Stars are also pursuing Swedish goalie Jonas Gustavsson.
