The list is long and luscious. Forgive us this trespass, we simply couldn't (wouldn't) narrow it down.

Thursday (and kinda Wednesday, too, and other days)
This weekend may be where the big, national names come out and play, but all throughout the week you can show some love to a local band who's made their own name. Bowling For Soup, the Denton punk/pop band that struck it fairly big in the 90's and early 2000's is still going strong (strongish) and will be celebrating its 15-year anniversary with a slew of shows, Wednesday and Thursday at Dan's Silverleaf and Saturday and Sunday at The Aardvark.
Friday
The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, if you aren't familiar, are not a Johnny Cash rehash or tribute, but the band name did get the attention of the namesake: "The new name was a joke, sort of. And yet, soon enough, it wasn’t a joke anymore. Soon enough, it was a band, and soon enough, it was enough of a band that Johnny Cash himself gave them his personal seal of approval, and Johnny Cash’s own legitimate son helped produce their first album."
This Friday the group celebrates the CD release of their latest album, Mile Marker at the Longhorn Saloon in Fort Worth.
Quick is also holding its "Big Thing" at the Granada Theater featuring a number of local bands, including Play-N-Skills and Dove Hunter.
Saturday
Saturday is a huge night for music in DFW and since I'm having a rather hard time just picking one or two, here's four:
Grand Funk Railroad - Where else in DFW would "The American Band" play but Billy Bob's Texas? You can still bring the Cowboys hat, just make sure it comes with a grizzly beard and some tight, leather pants.
George Strait and Reba McEntire - The Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington debuts for one of the biggest country shows to hit North Texas this year. Try not to wreck the place as we've got some soccer hooligans looking for something left to destroy next month, ok?
Nikki Sixx Benefit - No, Nikki Sixx is not looking for handouts, at least not for himself. The event at O'Riley's will help raise money for Running Wild in the Night, Sixx's charity that supports the Covenant House in California. On tap for entertainment will be Live Wire, a Crue tribute band, as well as Rivethead, Revengeance, and The Valentine Failures.
White Ghost Shivers - Frequenters of DFW, this Austin band plays music reminiscent of the 20s and 30s, with jazz standards, vaudeville, jugband, etc., with some modern rock/punk appeal. Whether the music is your cup of tea or not, just seeing what outfit lead female vox "Cella Blue" concocts is reason enough to experience the act.

Sunday
And it's not as if Sunday lets up. My god, if you can still handle it by then, Les Claypool and Matisyahu turn out the Palladium Ballroom whilst Better Than Ezra and Tyrone Wells hit the House of Blues. While you're there, why not check out local punkers Here Holy Spain in the Pontiac Garage as they open for Girl in a Coma and Miss Derringer? Why not? Give me a reason. Srsly.

Yes, thank you PegNews for encouraging the suckaz to go see George Strait and Reba at the enormo-dome, so those who want some real country music will be able to enjoy Will Oldham at the Granada.
