New Yankees Stadium (pictured) has been suspiciously hitter-friendly this season
The Texas Rangers could not handle the potent Yankees lineup once again, losing 12-3 Tuesday night in the hitter-friendly confines of new Yankee Stadium. The loss dropped Texas to 30-21, one half-game behind New York for the best record in the American League.
Rangers starter Vicente Padilla pitched poorly in his first start off the disabled list, surrendering seven runs off seven hits over just three-plus innings of work. Padilla, who fell to 3-3 with a 5.57 ERA, even plunked former Ranger Mark Teixeira twice, which backfired in the fourth when Teixeira keyed a seven-run that chased Padilla and sealed the game.
The Rangers' only runs came on one swing in the top of the third, when Nelson Cruz continued his recent tear with a three-run blast off A.J. Burnett. The home run briefly put Texas ahead at 3-2, before the Yankees piled it on in the fourth for the blowout.
