Trio sue Michael Irvin for allegedly stealing “4th & Long” concept
A group of three folks from California and Kentucky are suing Michael Irvin over the current Spike TV reality show, "4th and Long."
More Dallas Cowboys-related stories
The trio claims that they first approached Irvin in August 2007 with an idea for a television series called "Guts to Glory" in which reality contestants compete for a spot on an NFL team. Recognizing the need for a former NFL player to host, they made Irvin their first choice. Over the next several months, Irvin agreed to host at 25% of the show's profit, which his agent later demanded by upped to 75% and eventually 95%. After getting Jerry Jones' approval to use the Dallas Cowboys as the NFL team and and setting up a date to sign the paperwork, Irvin backed out.
Now, suspiciously, Irvin is the host of a television series called "4th and Long" in which reality contestants compete for a spot on an NFL team. Courthouse News Service has the complaint.
The Observer spoke with Irvin's lawyer today, who explains that the trio's claims are false and laments that Irvin and his success have come under fire again. Woe is Irvin.
