Texas Rangers 4, New York Yankees 2
The Texas Rangers won in New York with defense and pitching Wednesday night, defeating the unstoppable Yankees 4-2 at the homer-friendly confines of Yankee Stadium. The win improved Texas to 31-21, a half-game better than New York for the best record in the American League.

Texas won with defense and pitching, a sharp contrast to the wild swinging days of the past decade. Rookie shortstop phenom Elvis Andrus may have won the game by himself, robbing the Yankees of a pair of crucial hits while going 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and a run scored.
Ironically, Andrus performed his heroics just a day after getting run into on the basepaths by former Ranger Mark Teixeira in the game previous. Teixeira's action was heralded by the New York media as a mark of a true champion, but the slugger also injured his right ankle on the play and did not participate in Wednesday's game. The Rangers acquired Andrus two years ago from the Braves in a trade involving Teixeira.
Rangers starter Scott Feldman was the other player who came up huge for Texas, throwing six-plus innings and giving up just a pair of runs to the vaunted Yankees lineup. Feldman, who gave up just five hits and three walks while striking out five, improved to 5-0 on the season with a 3.79 ERA. Feldman is 5-0 with a 2.63 ERA as a starter this year, and has won his last three starts.
