Time-lapse video of the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium construction
After over three years of construction and $1 billion, the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is complete. I began documenting the construction of the stadium over two years ago on April 5, 2007, and have photographed the stadium every week since then (give or take a couple).
Having lived in Arlington for the majority of my life, I saw this as an opportunity to document one of the largest projects and landmarks that the city has endeavored to build. Once a week I would park in the Walmart parking lot across the street and set up my camera on the north side of the stadium in the two areas that I deemed to be the best vantage points within walking distance. It took a few weeks to find the same exact spot to shoot from, but with a little help from a couple of concrete dividers, I found my locations. The first spot was a close up of the north entrance, and the second a view of the entire stadium from the northeast side. After photographing the stadium, I used Photoshop to superimpose the image from each week onto the previous week's photo.
The stadium opened on Saturday with a concert headlined by George Strait with more than 60,000 people in attendance. I took this opportunity to go and shoot some of the crowd entering the stadium to get the final frames on this two-year-long project which I can now call complete. Below are the photos I compiled into a set of time-lapse videos, one of the north side and the other of the northeast. Also included are a few photos of opening day.

great project Laura. You have done the impossible: Made me look at the Stadium for more than 3 seconds without just shaking my head in disgust and even secretly enjoy it.
That's art.

As it began to take final shape, the stadium's architecture sort of reminded of a Cylon Raider ship from the classic Battlestar Galactica series, especially from the main entrance.

Great photographs! And it was a really time-consuming project for you to make sure that you got weekly photos from the same spots. Congratulations on an excellent project!
