Michael Devous, who has served as publicity director for the AFI Dallas International Film Festival for its entire three year history, has been lured away to the cool mountain heights of Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley by the folks at Aspen Film. Michael will join their staff as Communications Manager.
In addition to his high-profile position with AFI Dallas, Devous has also worked for the AFI FEST in Los Angeles, the SilverDocs Documentary Film Festival, the Lone Star International Film Festival and the Deep Ellum Film Festival. He also served as publicist for several films at Sundance, and has a 25-year history in event marketing, film and special events production.
Since his teenage years were spent in and around the Rockies (down New Mexico way), the high country - and skis - should hold no surprises for Michael, who expresses his interest in getting back on the slopes now that he has the opportunity. "They had me at hello," said Devous, who went on to say that he is excited about the opportunity to promote film and filmmakers in a "more relaxed and intimate setting." Like, around a roaring fire surrounded by people in leg casts, one supposes.
We who have worked with Michael wish him all the best in his new undertaking.
