Boston Red Sox 8, Texas Rangers 1
The Texas Rangers chose not to show up Saturday, losing 8-1 to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway. The loss dropped Texas to 32-23 on the season.
Boston starter Jon Lester was throwing a perfect game against the Rangers until the seventh inning, when Michael Young broke Boston's heart with a double. Michael Young would later add a single, the only two hits the Rangers collected all game.
Elvis Andrus would walk in the top of the ninth, and Andruw Jones would bat him in with a sacrifice fly. Jones and Andrus were the only two Rangers to walk against Lester.
Rangers rookie starter Derek Holland was thrown to the AL East wolves once again and, once again the wolves won: Holland lasted just four-plus innings and surrendered four runs on six hits. Holland, who did manage to strike out five Red Sox, fell to 1-3 with a 6.54 ERA.
