The Texas Rangers snapped an eight-game losing streak at Fenway Friday night, defeating the Boston Red Sox 5-1 behind terrific pitching and timely hitting. The win improved Texas to 32-22 on the season.

Rangers starter Kevin Millwood pitched brilliantly for the win, surrendering just one unearned run over the course of seven solid innings. Millwood, who gave up just seven hits and four walks while striking out five, improved his season record to 5-4 with a 2.96 ERA.

Red Sox starter Brad Penny held the Rangers in check until the top of the fifth inning, when Elvis Andrus got the scoring started with an RBI single and Ian Kinsler followed with a three-run shot. Chris Davis, who finished 3-for-4, would round out the scoring with a ground-rule double in the next inning to score Hank Blalock.
