FC Dallas defeated Club Sport Herediano of Costa Rica’s Primera Division 2-0 on goals from Andre Rocha and guest player Alex Fichera in an exhibition match played Wednesday night at Pizza Hut Park. Kickoff was delayed an hour due to severe storms in the Frisco area.

Rocha put the first goal on the board for FC Dallas in the 21st minute when he headed in a cross from midfielder Dax McCarty. McCarty’s cross came after he and David Ferreira combined for a quick interchange on a short corner kick.

CS Herediano went down to 10 men in the 25th minute when Eduardo Gomez was given a straight red card for a tackle on FCD’s Brek Shea. Minutes later, the Costa Rican side went down another player, as Andy Herron was ejected after receiving his second yellow card for arguing the referee’s red card decision. Herron was a member of the Costa Rican national team that defeated the United States 3-1 in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier last week.

In first-half stoppage time, Luis Vallejos received his second caution, and thus a red card, for shoving FC Dallas defender Blake Wagner after a hard challenge from Wagner. The Dallas defender was also given a yellow card on the play.

Regular first-team starters Rocha, McCarty, and Ferreira were all substituted in the 35th minute, while captain Drew Moor and Shea were substituted at the half.

FC Dallas bagged its second goal of the game fifteen minutes into the second half. Forward Peri Marosevic laid a ball off to Fichera at the top of the box whose strike squirted through goalkeeper Ricardo Gonzalez’s hands. Fichera, a guest player for tonight’s game, regularly plays for the Premier Developmental League’s DFW Tornadoes.

CS Herediano totaled seven cards on the match, including three red cards. FC Dallas picked up four yellow cards of its own. It was the first-ever meeting between the two sides and the second match of CS Herediano’s two-game American tour. On Tuesday, the Costa Rican club fell to the LA Galaxy 1-0 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

FC Dallas, with a 2-6-4 (10 pts) MLS record, looks to extend its four-game MLS unbeaten run this Saturday,

June 13 when the team hosts in-state rivals the Houston Dynamo (7-2-3, 24 pts) at 7:30 p.m. CT live on Fox Soccer Channel. Houston is coming off a 1-0 victory over Western Conference leaders Chivas USA tonight.
