Lone Star Film Society presents Before the Music Dies

  • Where: Four Day Weekend Theater, 312 Houston Street, Fort Worth
  • Cost: $20 - $30

Andrew Shapter was born in Fort Worth and now lives in Austin. (Where it's weird, I hear, though not as weird as it used to be.)

Shapter is a writer, director and photographer, and he'll be coming back to Fort Worth this Wednesday (June 17) to host a showing of his documentary film, Before the Music Dies at Four Day Weekend (312 Houston St.).

The movie - narrated by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, and featuring interviews and performances by Erykah Badu, Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Branford Marsalis, questlove and a wide variety of others - starts at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Acclaimed jazz musician Ephriam Owens (a Dallas native) will be on hand to perform live at this kickoff event for the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards Festival, which will be coming up on June 28 with six venues and more than 36 nominated bands performing. (For free.)

Advance tickets can be purchased here at a cost of $20 or $25 (depending upon whether you're a member of the Lone Star Film Society). Tickets at the door on the evening of the show will cost you five bucks more.
