Duncanville boxer Luis Yanez to return to the ring
Luis Yanez hopes to remain undefeated in his fledgling pro boxing career June 19 at Frisco’s Dr. Pepper Arena. Yanez will face Joseph Rios, a 6-3 competitor from San Antonio, as the main event of a five-bout card.
Yanez picked up an ugly win in February at the American Airlines Center, one of the three judges actually scoring the bout a draw. After the fight, both fighters blamed the other for the slowdown spectacle. Yanez said his opponent, Julio Valadez was more interested in holding him than fighting. Valadez said Yanez ran too much and to rub it in a little more, Valadez said he didn’t feel any of Yanez’s punches.
The bottom line, however, is that Yanez came away with the win. Duncanville’s athletic tradition is world-renowned and Yanez has been another great story for the City of Champions.
