Eating and drinking events in Dallas-Fort Worth June 17

0

The big food events this week are all about fathers, daddy-o, mi padre, etcetera. But that's not all that's going down in the world of eating and drinking. Just because you haven't fathered a demon spawn doesn't mean you can't go out and taste a glass of wine or two.

Wednesday

Al Fresco Wine Tasting

If you're one of those people who wished they'd known about the margarita class held in the courtyard at NorthPark Center, then this Al Fresco Wine Tasting is basically the next installment.

More than 15 wineries will showcase wines, with eight chosen from Northern Italy by Cibus and seven from South America and Spain chosen by La Duni. Add in "special bites" from their kitchens and some cheese from Scardello Artisan Cheeses, and you have an awesome event for $20 at the door.

Thursday

2010 Prius Premiere

Check out the first 2010 Prius in the market (the one with solar panels) whilst you snack on food & bevvies from Kozy Kitchen, plus MP3's players-tickets-gift certificates giveaways.

Friday

Wine Dinner with Bob Egelhoff

And who is Bob Egelhoff, you might ask. Don't feel embarrassed; as this this story says, Egelhoff is "one of the best winemakers you probably haven't heard about". He's the winemaker for three Napa Valley wineries: Amizetta Vineyards, Axios Wines, and Phelan Vineyard. Good stuff.

Saturday

Dinner with Thomas Jefferson in honor of Father’s Day

The Hotel St. Germain hosts an eight-course menu taken from the pages of the cookbooks of the Thomas Jefferson White House and Monticello. Wow, that's going to be some pretty old recipes. Jefferson was big into French food. Look for Monticello Garden vegetable pistou, foie gras with fig preserves, oyster and spinach gratin with macaroni, crab-stuffed red snapper with baked squash, duck breast with orange compote and baby artichokes, goat cheese tartlette with heirloom tomatoes, and baked vanilla ice cream.

Monday

New Mediterranean Cooking Technique Class

Canary Cafe's Chef Mansour Gorji focuses on New Mediterranean cuisine with French influences and includes a three-course dinner: Prime beef tenderloin ragoût in phyllo, wilted Swiss chard with sliced grilled pork chop, and butter-seared lobster with Roquefort crème, mushrooms, and cocoa.

Tuesday

Singles Tequila Tasting Party

You get a tasting of three Partida tequilas, two top-shelf fruit margaritas, hors d'oeuvre, and a goody bag. Goody!
