Kids and family events in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, June 17-23
As the temperature (and humidity) grows ever northward, perhaps this is a good week to find indoor entertainment. North Texas, as usual, doesn't disappoint. This week you have carb-lovin' siblings in Arlington, a story that supposedly never ends in Dallas, a journey down a rabbit hole in Bedford, and a luau in Denton.
On Wednesday, June 17, the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Arlington continues to prove itself as a family-friendly destination with an appearance by the Biscuit Brothers, an educational singing duo that have an eponymous TV show on the Austin PBS station. Check out an example of their work:
Starting Friday, July 19, the Dallas Children's Theater will present the first showing of a month-long run of The Neverending Story at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts. Oh, sure, the tale of the young Bastian trying to save imagination is fun, but all good things come to an end, right?
Also starting on Friday is Alice in Wonderland, a presentation by ONSTAGE in Bedford at the ONSTAGE Trinity Arts Theater. Alice will wander down the rabbit hole eight times in all, with seven more performances to follow on Saturday, Sunday, and next weekend.
Finally, amongst the plethora of library events, the Denton Public Library's North Branch manages to distinguish itself by hosting a Hawaiian Luau Book Adventure. Kids can learn about the 50th state, dance the hula, and even make a (baking soda) volcano.
