— Whoa, the Jonas Brothers got a big dose of starpower at their show on Saturday at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington with a cameo appearance by super-huge-massive-mega teen star Miley Cyrus. She showed up during the encore and sang "Before the Storm" with ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas.

According to Mario Tarradell, the JoBros performed in front of 50,000 on a fancy stage set up in the middle of the stadium floor with lots of spectacle that included some kind of water feature with ribbons "shaped as hearts, letters and strings." The show was the first night of the Jonas' 2009 tour to promote new CD Lines, Vines and Trying Times.

Cyrus foreshadowed her appearance on Twitter at 3 p.m. on Saturday, saying, "in one of my favorite cities with my favorite people. guess where i am and what im doing. i will never tell. :)".

And may I complement the City of Arlington on being able, with such a new venue, to so quickly capture the sense of wonder, amazement and sheer other-worldliness that only the onslaught of thousands of crowded SUVs careening down completely unmarked access streets desperately seeking a main thoroughfare, like lemmings with razor-lined jet packs in a white rubber room, that the release of an Arlington event can be.

At night, getting off a long long shift of work, the magic is a dozenfold.

"And the crowd goes wild.... with road rage."

I had a co-worker that went to the concert and she said the execution of everything was done perfectly... The parking, the lines, the customer service. Then she told me that she paid $35 for a kids t-shirt. I just shook my head. But parking was only $20. I guess depending on the event, the parking prices change...(?)

Jesus is a powerful Protean Being, capable of morphing demography by thread. I'm sure Tennessee citizenship is a breeze for one so skilled.

In 1991, I paid $20 for a t-shirt at a Sting, Soul Cages concert tour in Dallas. It was expensive for a t-shirt, but I would wear it for years, and I didn't want to pass on the one chance to remember the concert each time I wore it. Today, a concert t-shirt costs about $35. Adjusted for inflation, what cost $20 in 1991 would cost about $32 or $33 in 2009. I think that our consumer mind can’t get past shelling out more than a $20 bill for a worthless artifact, much as it still pains many of us to have to pay more than a buck for a gallon of gas.

Soul Cages. Nice. Loved that album. Last decent thing Sting ever produced.
