FC Dallas recently announced that military personnel are invited to the Saturday, July 4 home game against the New York Red Bulls (8 p.m. CT) free of charge courtesy of the “Tickets for Troops” program. The Independence Day celebration at Pizza Hut Park will highlight the City of Frisco’s annual Frisco Freedom Fest for the fourth consecutive year. This year’s event will feature a special halftime presentation by The American Fallen Soldiers Project, a post-game fireworks show, and live music from Lone Star Attitude.
In its second year, the “Tickets for Troops” program provides two sponsored tickets to all Texas-based active duty, reserve, and veteran military personnel. Partners that have donated tickets for the program this year include Pizza Hut, Texans Credit Union, MetroPCS, Coors Brewing Company, EDS Credit Union, Yellowtail Wine, Modia Home Theater, TGI Systems, and Jim Cox, an FC Dallas season ticket holder and longtime supporter of the FC Dallas Foundation.
FC Dallas fans who would like to make donations to the “Tickets for Troops” program can do so by calling 888-FCD-GOAL (888-323-4625). Ticket donations are tax deductible and are available at discounted prices. Visit FCDallas.com for more information.
Military personnel can receive their sponsored tickets by contacting the information, tickets, and travel department on their respective base or by calling Wes Hoover of FC Dallas at 214-705-6776 by Wednesday, July 1. In addition, a 50 percent day-of-game discount is available to all active duty, reserve, and veteran military personnel at the Pizza Hut Park box office with valid military identification.
Frisco Freedom Fest begins at 4 p.m. at City Hall’s Simpson Plaza, located on Main Street directly across from Pizza Hut Park. Admission is free and events will include the Children’s Expo, Hometown Heroes Exhibit, Community Stage, and Taste of Frisco. The fun continues at Pizza Hut Park with the FC Dallas versus New York Red Bulls game, featuring a happy hour from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with $1 draft beers and $3 margaritas, before kickoff at 8 p.m.
At halftime, The American Fallen Soldiers Project will present a portrait to the family of deceased soldier Sgt. 1st Class Justin Monschke of Krum, Texas. Monschke served as a Special Forces Green Beret in the U.S. Army and was killed in action in Iraq on October 14, 2007. The American Fallen Soldiers Project is a charitable organization based in Frisco that provides families with an original portrait of their fallen soldier by founder and artist Phil Taylor.
The largest fireworks show in the area will take place immediately after the match, followed by a live concert from Lone Star Attitude, a local band whose performances celebrate the overall influence the state of Texas has had on popular music.
