SafeHaven of Tarrant County receives a $30,000 donation from King Foundation
The Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation, a Dallas-based philanthropic organization that focuses some of its funds on organizations that help children, awarded $30,000 to SafeHaven of Tarrant County for its “Children Can Succeed” program.
“We depend on private philanthropy to meet the needs of the children we serve,” said President and CEO Mary Lee Hafley. “Supporters like the King Foundation are essential to providing counseling, education, respite and recreation to the children of domestic violence victims.”
Children Can Succeed consists of play therapy, art therapy, fieldtrips and education to give children back their childhood and help them create a violence-free future.
“The key to breaking the cycle of domestic violence is children,” Hafley said. “When children are exposed to domestic violence, they develop emotional and behavioral problems including withdrawal and low self-esteem to nightmares and aggression. By providing professional support in a safe, positive environment, children share their feelings and develop the tools they need to rebuild their self-esteem and trust in others.”
