Arlington p.o.’ed that American Idol says Cowboys Stadium is in Dallas

8

Arlington is mad as hell (okay, mildly perturbed) that American Idol, which is holding auditions at Cowboys Stadium this Friday, claims the stadium is in Dallas. American Idol's website even goes so far as to suggest DART as a transportation option and Fair Park as an entertainment destination, even though people staying in Arlington would be hard-pressed to take advantage of either one of those.

Better get used to it, Arlington. Since the Dallas Cowboys are the primary tenants of your stadium, anyone not from the area (including U2 and CONCACAF) will think the stadium is in Dallas.

Arlington better get used to it.

If Idol had said they were auditioning at the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, people would have been lining up in Virginia, all the while wondering how they missed the announcement of the Cowboys move to the northeast.

At least Irving is in Dallas County, which alleviated some confusion.

Arlington is boned.

Give me a break. Of course American Idol is going to give Dallas as the location. No one outside of North Texas knows where Arlington is.

I sorta (at least initially) feel obligated to feel Arlington's pain. In no small part since I have read where I live described in print and on air as being all over the map disparate locations, some of which being God knows more than half a city and a world away. *So here's to you Arlington!*

That said, I never recall anyone nationally ever referring to Texas Stadium (being) in 'Irving'. So, since I live in Dallas, arguably closer to Arlington than Irving, I sorta saw this as a second verse non-issue. Especially since it was Arington taxpayers (meaning homeowner property taxes?) that were happily paying for the home of the Dallas Cowboys rather than me. It worked before.

What's that old Dionne Warwick song? Ah yes. 'Deja vu'.

As Captain Renault from Casablanca would say: "I'm shocked, shocked that the Cowboys would be identified with Dallas and not with Arlington!". I would hope that the Arlington voters knew this was part of the deal when they voted on it.

We're just using Arlington for their land and gullible tax payers. Muahahahahahaha!
