Child drowning at DeSoto hotel is the second this year
Both drownings at the MCM Grande Hotel are believed to be accidental.
Six-year-old James Huggins drowned June 6 in the pool of the MCM Grande Hotel, according to DeSoto police reports. James Huggins had been in the pool with his teenaged sister when the accident happened.
After his sister pulled him out of the pool, James Huggins received CPR on scene. But he was pronounced dead later that day at Methodist Charlton Medical Center.
This is the second time in a three-month span a child drowned in the hotel pool. Five-year-old Tiojai Williams was found unconscious in the pool April 10 and died April 11. Both drownings are believed to be accidental.
