UPDATED: Flying Saucer will open off Lake Ray Hubbard in Garland in late July

Updated 01:21 p.m., July 27, 2009

UPDATE: It's open as of Monday July 27.

A branch of the Flying Saucer will open in Garland off Lake Ray Hubbard, in the space previously occupied by County Line BBQ, dishes Nancy N. at SideDish. Nancy N. is soooooooooooo connected that she got a personal tweet or twit or something that came straight from the BlackBerry of Shannon Wynne, who is the owner of Flying Saucer. Here's what it said: “Yes. Next to Bass Pro right on Lake Ray Hubbard. Opens last week in July. Will have catfish and chips and shrimps and chips.”

As a thrice-weekly visitor to Lake Ray Hubbard, I say hurrah!

As a resident of Rowlett, this is great news! I've always loved visiting the Flying Saucer in Addison, but it's a bit too far to go as often I'd like. I think this is a great business decision for Flying Saucer and a great benefit to the Eastern Metroplex area.

Need a Peg get-together on or near the opening, imo.

I don't head out that way much, but this certainly gives me a reason to.

Years ago I was a frequent Addison visitor working on my 'plate'.

I'd gone through all the nice dark beers and was mid-way through the mid-darks... when... I started dating a gentleman that doesn't drink.

Hard to justify going to a place like the Saucer when you're the only one drinking.

Oh well.... I save money this way. But, as it will now only be about a 10 minute drive (or less).... hmmmm

I think it's easy to justify.

"Come on, honey, I'm only fifty beers away from a commemorative plate! And since you're a permanent designated driver, it doesn't make any sense NOT to drink three beers a night!"

Three? THREE???? What is wrong with you....

Well unless they're in the 24oz glasses that is.

UFO club caps your list additions to 3 beers a day, AnnMarie.

Believe me, I'd be so much closer otherwise.

May want to get in touch with someone about that, no idea if there's a statute of limitations type deal involved: http://www.beerknurd.com/contact.php

Nice 2-year come back, John. AnnMarie must be flattered. =p

How'd it go, btw? Did they reinstate or must you start anew?

Hey John - behave yourself! Not even a response from FS. Now that's bad marketing.

So do we all meet down there after the initial chaos subsides?
