Chancellor Jay Hutcheson, the 18-year-old from Plano who's accused of sucker-punching Jeffrey "Jake" Fleming of California at a Rascal Flatts concert on Saturday, June 13, finally turned himself in Monday afternoon.
He was booked into Dallas County Jail, then released after posting $25,000 bail. He has a lawyer, who released a statement saying he acted in self-defense and left the scene "in fear of having to defend himself." The lawyer also claims he was in contact with the police as far back as last Thursday.
None of that jibes with what's emerged up to now -- like the female witness who told police that after the punch, Hutcheson yelled at her to get on the blankety-blank party bus, then bragged about knocking his "opponent" to the ground with one punch. Or the fact that he didn't turn himself in until three days after the warrant was issued, even though police searched for him all weekend and issued a public plea on Monday with a $10,000 reward for help in locating him -- discrepancies that the DMN's Steve Thompson does a nice job of pointing out.

Maybe he was hoping to get the $10k reward for turning himself in.
