Sambuca in Addison closing down on Saturday, June 27

11

Sambuca in Addison will close on Saturday, June 27, as confirmed by a manager at the restaurant.

"We are closing, the last day is Saturday," the manager said.

As might be surmised, the closure of the Addison branch was accelerated by the recent announcement that the owners of Sambuca will open another branch in Plano, called Sambuca 360, which the Addison manager said was set to take place "in about 8 weeks."

Boy... What a history Sambuca has had. From it's original "the hot club" in Deep Ellum, with the 7+ foot doorman, to the Addison second co-location that actually succeeded in duplicating the great food and food service and jazz acts, and now it closes to move to homogenized Plano. Will a Kenny G 3-day Jazz Snooze be the next thing they do? Maybe Yanni on the electric pan pipes?

Thats a damn shame. Sambucca deep ellum was the best ever though. I sat at that bar and listened to jazz and nurse martinis and thought I was hot stuff. I miss that one and will surely miss this one. Last place I took my favorite lady when she was here in January. :(

I do miss Calvin, he was a gentleman and one of the people that helped give Deep Ellum character. And those massive hands. We both did an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger (not same episode). Good times. Man, we need a new hit teevee show shot full time in Dallas.

What was that? I can't hear you! Say again! It's too loud! Let's go outside so I can hear what you're saying! (Outside) There, that's better. Now what did you say? Yeah, me too.
