Arlington celebrates Adopt-A-Cat month with free vaccinations and micro-chipping
As noted elsewhere, June is National Adopt-A-Cat Month.
In Arlington, the Animal Services folks are promoting the adoption of the sheltered felines under their care (domestic variety) by offering a free ride on the vaccination fees (both core and rabies) and micro-chipping services.
(That's like a $20 savings if I'm reading this fee schedule correctly.)
They are also encouraging spaying/neutering for all cats, stating that "your new cat will actually be happier and healthier because of it." (Hm, not so sure about that "happier" part, but I get the idea...)
Also encouraged is the practice of keeping an ID tag on your pet. Even indoor cats can slip outside and take off for the hinterlands, and the tag (with your address and phone number on it) will increase kitty's chances of returning to his/her starting point (i.e., your house).

That's just wonderful! Now to get Garland and the rest of the cities to follow suit.
