The Counter in Plano is now independent burger place called Meathead’s
PLANO The Counter in Plano has parted ways with the California-based chain and changed its name to Meathead's (which The Nancy reported previously).
A spokesman at the restaurant said that they wanted to go for a less-expensive approach and have become more of a conventional burger place without the emphasis on plentiful and exotic toppings that The Counter had.
Hnh, I ate at The Counter once or twice and didn't exactly think of it as an expensive place, but I guess they're talking about a $5 or $6 burger being "expensive" as opposed to a $3 burger? It's not like any burger is what you would call expensive. Especially given the subsidized price of corn. But I digress.
Brian Berman, marketing director for The Counter, said that the two sides decided mutually it wasn't working "in the current real estate market," but that the chain hadn't ruled out finding a second go-round in the Dallas-Plano area and definitely wasn't giving up on Texas.
"We'll probably open a branch in Houston by the end of the year," he said.

Not the most appealing burgers either. Tried them as Counter and now as Meathead. Rather disappointing.
