Texas Rangers 2, Arizona Diamondbacks 1

The Texas Rangers still can't score, but it didn't matter Wednesday night in a 2-1 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona. The win snapped a five-game losing streak, all to National League teams, and improved the Rangers to 38-32 on the season.

Rangers starter Vicente Padilla was stellar once again, outdueling Arizona ace Dan Harren through most of the game. Padilla surrendered just one run on six hits over seven solid innings, improving his season record to 6-3 with a 4.48 ERA. Haren, who entered the game leading the majors with a 2.23 ERA, pitched brilliantly in the loss but still saw his once-amazing ERA balloon to 2.25.

Frank Francisco pitched a scoreless eighth for his first hold of the season, and C.J. Wilson followed with a perfect ninth for his seventh save.

Both of Texas' runs came off smallball, with Taylor Teagarden doubling in Marlon Byrd in the top of the second inning, and David Murphy singling in Ian Kinsler for the eventual game-winning run in the third inning.
