Upcoming Denton concerts - June 25-27, 2009

Max Stalling w/ Rodney Parker -- Thursday, June 25 at Rockin Rodeo

OK country fans, this one is for you! It is Max Stalling and Rodney Parker at the Rockin Rodeo on Thursday night. With a polished Texan sound, Max Stalling has made his way into the regular rotation on my iPod and for good reason. "Running Buddy," like a good country song should, relates to me on every level and I can listen to it over and over again without getting wearing it out.

Also on stage will be my all time favorite country musician, Mr. Rodney Parker. We had a Spotlight on him and his band a few weeks ago and declared his new album a masterpiece. Find out why this Thursday at the Rockin Rodeo.

Trebuchet -- Friday, June 26 at The Boiler Room

A few months ago, we wrote that Trebuchet defies most standard classifications of music, and recommended that to get the full grasp of what this band is all about you should just have a listen to their debut double disk album, "Bear and The Moon" and check out one of their live shows. Well, here is your chance to do both. The band will be headlining a wonderful lineup at The Boiler Room on Friday night which also includes Peacemaker, Vixens of Vaudeville, and Siren City.

If you have not seen Trebuchet perform live yet, please do yourself a favor and get your ass to the Boiler Room. Their style is truly unique and can only be fully experienced live. Oh, and while you are there, pick up a copy of "Bear and The Moon" -- it's a great listen from beginning to end.

Sleep Whale -- Saturday, June 27 at Hailey's

Honestly, the show I am most looking foreword to in Denton this weekend is Saturday night at Hailey's. Sleep Whale is one of the most intriguing bands in this town and I can not wait to hear them live. They produce a type of hypnotic sound that is unparalleled by any band I have ever come across. You can not help but feel an overwhelming sense of peace and happiness while listening to this Denton group. Check out our Spotlight to get a better idea of what to expect.

Also playing that night is Power Animal from Philadelphia who have one of the most fantastically off center sound you will hear.

SERIOUSLY, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SAY ONE SINGLE THING ON YOUR FRONT PAGE ABOUT MICHAEL JACKSON. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE????

It ain't exactly local news.

But relax, you're helping bring the news of his death - which PegasusNews readers obviously wouldn't have heard about elsewhere - to the front page by spamming every recent news story with a comment.

i've spent all my hours this morning desperately trying to find a local angle. at this point, i'd settle for a dallas-fort-worthian who knew how to moon-walk
