From Anne Marie Weiss-Armush of DFW International Community Alliance comes word of a film component attached to the forthcoming African Unity Festival.

The inaugural African Film Festival - touted as the region's first so-themed event - will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Southern Methodist University's Meadows School of the Arts.

Four films will be shown representing various African nations and social issues. The films will be presented in their native languages and subtitled in English. Admission to the each is free, thanks to the support of SMU's Meadows School of the Arts.

Here's the festival agenda, which includes simultaneous events going on directed at children/families and teens/adults, respectively:

Theater 1: recommended for children, youth and families

* 1 p.m. - God Grew Tired of Us (Sudan)

* 2:30 p.m. - Panel Discussion on refugees and their adjustment to cultural differences in the U.S.

* 3 p.m. - War Dance (Uganda)

Theater 2: recommended for teens and adults

* 1 p.m. - Angels in the Dust (South Africa)

* 2:30 p.m. - Panel Discussion on AIDS in Africa

* 3 p.m. - (film selection pending for this time slot and venue)
