Mesquite ISD elementary school may have been swindled by former secretary
An internal audit following the secretary's resignation revealed more than $61,000 in missing funds.
Over $61,000 in cash has gone missing from Hanby Elementary School in Mesquite, and a secretary who was forced to resign is a prime suspect. The secretary resigned last October after she claimed that her daughter's boyfriend stole $5,000 in cash. After her resignation, an internal audit revealed the missing $61,000+. Oh, and there's also the fact that the secretary had apparently decided on her own that payments for book fairs and the like could only be made in cash, even though district policy allows for check payments.
