Fort Worth Star-Telegram laying off “about 12%” of its workers
FORT WORTH the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is initiating layoffs of "about 12%" of its workers, according to a memo sent out by publisher Gary Wortel.
Other measures: wage reductions for employees who make more than $25,000 annually, freeze on pension and suspension of the 401K plan, and possibly a forced one-week unpaid furlough.
At the same time, they're launching a Quick-type weekly freebie called DFW.com Ink Edition.
