Sundance Square’s Milan Gallery celebrates 30th Anniversary
According to statistics compiled by the University of Southern Maine, family businesses account for half of all U.S. gross domestic product. They generate 60% of the nation’s employment and 78% of all new jobs.
A locally owned art gallery is a great example of a family business that has prospered and contributed to both Fort Worth’s cultural wealth and its fiscal health. Founded in 1979 to promote local artist Henrietta Milan’s artwork, Milan Gallery is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month.
“Over the years, Milan Gallery has brought many museum-quality shows to Fort Worth,” says gallery manager Tal Milan, 46. “We’ve showcased works by world-renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Peter Max. Then, we also provide a venue for a number of local and regional artists.”
Milan Gallery has spent the past 16 years in Sundance Square.
“Milan Gallery is a bright spot in Sundance Square,” said Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square. “Their creative spirits and beautiful art enrich our community. And they are wonderful corporate citizens, contributing to many area civic and arts ventures. We look forward to celebrating many more successes with the Milans.”
The relationship has been mutually beneficial.
“Sundance Square and its patrons provide us the opportunity to sell artwork to many people who may not necessarily consider themselves art buyers,” explains Tal Milan. “The gallery has become a "go to" location in Sundance Square, which provides us important exposure. Our long-term relationship with downtown Fort Worth also enhances our credibility nationwide.”
Located at 505 Houston Street in downtown Fort Worth, Milan Gallery is hosting a special showing of internationally renowned American impressionist Henrietta Milan’s latest works. “Garden View” will feature several new colorful landscapes and vibrant impressionistic florals.
The public is invited to a reception at the gallery from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Saturday, March 14 and 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday March 15. Henrietta Milan will be on hand to meet guests and talk about her artworks.
Milan Gallery represents nearly two-dozen artists, including Thomas Arvid, Vladimir Gorsky, Milan Med, Rome Milan, Jerry Sanders, Tuan and even Michelangelo. More information, including a full list of artists, is available at www.milangallery.com.
