North Richland Hills police stepping up enforcement during spring break weeks
NRH police officers have received additional training to learn how to spot potentially impaired drivers and determine if they are impaired.
During the month of March, the North Richland Hills Police Department will be stepping up its enforcement efforts against impaired drivers. The initiative is in conjunction with grant funds provided by the Texas Department of Transportation.
Spring Break typically occurs throughout the month of March, and many partygoers may take to the roads. NRH police officers have received additional training to learn how to spot potentially impaired drivers and determine if they are impaired. Drivers that are arrested will be offered a breath or blood test; if the breath test is refused the officers are able to seek a warrant to obtain a sample of their blood to determine the level of intoxication.
The North Richland Hills Police want partygoers to either not drink or to “think before they drink,” and make arrangements for a designated driver before going out or call a taxi. Through safe driving awareness and extra enforcement efforts targeting impaired drivers the NRH Police Department hopes to have a fatality free Spring Break season.
