Late on Saturday (March 7), where Mayforge does a 90 degree turn into Ledbetter (along I-45 in Dallas), the car carrying three W.H. Adamson High School students apparently lost control and crashed into an SUV going in the other direction.
The three kids in the silver Ford Taurus - freshman Liliana Reynoso, sophomore Miriam Ramirez and freshman Rosario Filemon - were killed in the crash. The driver - Ms. Ramirez - did not have a driver's license.
The occupants of the SUV - two women and a child - were injured and transported to hospitals, though their injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.
The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation, though skid mark evidence at the scene leads police to think that speed was a factor.

Why do they even need to construct 90 degree turns like that??

Not sure about other places, Nina, but it looks like the combo of the freeway, train tracks, and power lines might be a reason for this one:

90 degree turns are safe as long as your entry speed is reasonable. Seems like a problem between the steering wheel and the gas pedal to me.

The article reports that the accident happened on Saturday the 7th, this is incorrect, it was afterschool on Friday the 6th.
