American legendary film actor and noted painter, Tony Curtis, will be introducing his most recent original paintings and limited edition prints through Art Couture Gallery for a two-day exhibition on March 27 and 28. Recognized for his high-toned and playful impressionist-like work, Curtis, 83, will be debuting a new series of mixed media pieces that meld nostalgic movie sets photographs with paint.

Reproduced and then stretched on 18 x 24 canvas, these personal photos provide backdrop and inspiration for Curtis’s brush. Art Couture Gallery will be featuring on an on-going basis some of his eclectic collection of original paintings as well as limited editions from his notable years and to the present time.

While known since the late 1940’s for his roles in more than 100 films, Curtis has gained recognition for his art, which he began creating as a child in New York. His giclees, acrylics, line drawings and boxed assemblages have been shown around the world. In 2007, the Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired a painting for a new gallery of celebrity artwork.

Long a devoted philanthropist, Curtis has donated many pieces to charitable organizations, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for causes including the American Cancer Society, Positively Kids, American Diabetes Foundation, and the Motion Picture and Television Fund Retirement Home. He also established a foundation that helped restore the Budapest Great Synagogue and Holocaust Memorial in his parents’ Hungarian hometown. Tony and his wife, Jill, are founders of the Shiloh Horse Rescue and Sanctuary foundation dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected, injured, unwanted, and slaughter bound horses, giving them a second chance at life.

Art Couture Gallery will host a reception with Curtis from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on both Friday and Saturday. Complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served along with the sound of elegant classical harp repertoires. Guests are invited to join the artist for dinner immediately following the event, at Capriccio Ristorante, a few doors down in the Village on the Green shopping center. Tickets for dinner are $100 per person, which includes a four-course meal and an 8 x 10 professional signed photograph taken with the guest of honor. Reservations are required ahead of time for the event by calling 972.661.2432 or 972.991.3939 (dinner only). A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Art Couture Gallery is an exclusive ASAG (Artist Strategic Alliance Group) member of Gamut Fine Art Publishing, which represents over 84 prestigious artists around the globe and remains as the leader in limited edition canvas technology.
