Duncanville City Council race begins

0

At-large Councilwoman Dorothy Burton will have to fend off the challenge of Buck Werner, a member of the Texas Chapter of the Christian Coalition. A Werner win would double his family’s political influence, as his wife C.J. is on the Duncanville school board.

District 5 incumbent Johnette Jameson, who protested what she believes is the political nature of current council proceedings (down to the taking of minutes) at the March 3 meeting, is challenged by longtime Duncanville resident Gerald Hill.

And the man at the center of the minutes controversy, District 3 incumbent Paul Ford, will face off against the man he defeated two years ago. Former District 3 councilman Anthony Skinner will try to do what Grady Smithey did last year, regain the council seat he lost in the previous election.

On the Best Southwest’s most controversial council, there is no quieter voice than that of District 1 incumbent Ken Weaver. In keeping with his consistently low profile, Weaver is unopposed.
